Sustainability claims in corporate gifting are easy to make and hard to verify. Here are the certifications actually worth looking for.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
Certifies that the finished textile is tested for harmful substances, including azo dyes. This is the most relevant certification for branded apparel.
BCI (Better Cotton Initiative)
Certifies the cotton farming itself — reduced water use, no child labour, responsible pesticide use. Look for "BCI Certified" on the cotton source, not just the finished product.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
The gold standard for organic cotton products like our tote bags — covers both the farming and the entire manufacturing chain including dyes.
Ask your vendor for certificates, not just claims. A serious manufacturer will have these documents ready to share.
